OUR STORY

Jeff Bartelt founded the company in 1977 in a small workshop in Mill Valley, California. His background was a degree in Graphic Design from Yale University and an interest in woodworking.

The initial assortment included a few items that quickly became popular kitchen basics in the Gourmet Product and Housewares industry. Most notably was the vertical paper towel holder (our Towel Tote) which was a concept conceived by Mr. Bartelt. This idea changed the way many people kept paper towels accessible and quite a few versions have since shown up in the marketplace.

Soon after the Towel Tote, the product assortment broadened to include home organization products, gifts and decorative accessories.

Since 1983, the company has been owned and operated by the employees of Bartelt Design & Manufacturing, Inc.
